Battle Of The Future Buddhas (Live act, Sweden)

Battle of the Future Buddhas started making trance music in 1993/94 under the names Deviate and Afterglow, until they decided to call themselves a name that no one else could use — inspired by the title from Time magazine: Battle of the Future Buddhas.

The core line-up consisted of Magnus Bladh, Johan Rosén and David Tingsgård, with Robin Kvisler occasionally supporting. They became famous on the DAT scene and parties in the legendary Goa, drawing inspiration from the Swedish forests and the underground events of DJs Ulf and Jonas from Örebro.

In 1996, they signed with BooM! Records and released the cult album Twin Sharkfins, and later Demonoizer. They also had releases on Kavator Records and Superstring.

David founded the record label Schlabbaduerst ReKkords, whose purpose was to promote the BOTFB project as well as the music of his friends such as Ka-Sol, Zoon, Fripic Bounce, Vibrasphere and others.

The label is still active to this day and periodically delights all fans of the genre with new releases.

Although the band took a break, David continued with DJ sets and annual compilations until 2005. The return was confirmed in 2010 with the release of Masters of Outhouse with Ka-Sol, and a more active phase followed — reissues of old material (Digging Mud, Urban Legends), compilations (Chronicle of Mystery, Treetrolla…), and numerous gigs, including live performances and “versus” sets.

The album Everything was released in 2015 on Chronicle of Mystery, and D-Dave mixes from old DAT tapes further revived the scene. He released his last three albums on Suntrip Records: The Light Behind The Sun (2019), Songs From A Forgotten Memory (2021) and Cause, Principle And One Eternal (2024).
