Electronic music in Macedonia began developing in the late 1980s, and the first Goa party featuring a guest DJ from Greece was organized in January 1996 at the club “Dali”.
From that moment, a new subculture was formed — an audience that identified exclusively with Goa Trance. Its golden era of creativity and party organization across the country began in 1997 and lasted until 2012.
Irena first encountered electronic music at the age of fifteen, and her first trance party experience was in 2011 — an open-air event in the Gevgelija area known as Bel Raj (White Paradise). There, in close connection with nature, where the depth of sound feels primal and creates a transcendental atmosphere, Ena became fascinated and, three years ago, discovered herself as a DJ. She began collecting already existing music, carefully selecting it, and presenting it in her own original way.

The gradual evolution of this music led to its spread across almost all regions of Macedonia, eventually reaching Gevgelija — the hometown of Goa DJ Irena, who is known on social media as EnChi.

Speaking about her beginnings in the trance scene as a DJ artist, she says she received enormous support from her friends, who listened to her experimental sets at afterparties and private gatherings. That support strengthened her confidence to continue moving forward. Thanks to them — and her own persistence — she still sometimes can’t believe that she stepped outside her comfort zone and revealed her gift and potential to the Goa Trance audience.
Her first recorded set was broadcast on Psy Freq Radio Show. After receiving positive feedback, she created five more fantastic sets, which were also aired on the same radio. These reached the ears of the trance organization Psytrouble, and in 2022 she received an invitation to perform for the first time at their event by the Babuna River in Veles.
Through her sets, Irena expresses the healing, cathartic function of music and its power to express what she otherwise could not put into words. She reveals a lot about herself through music and says that among all genres, she found her true refuge and medium of expression in Goa.
“While listening to Goa, I feel freedom, sun, nature, and peace — something that was missing in my life. Sometimes I feel sadness from too many deep, unspoken emotions, and sometimes happiness, excitement, goosebumps, a chest full of adrenaline… It’s truly indescribable. Even now, while trying to explain it, I’m getting goosebumps, haha… Sometimes I wonder — are there others who feel this music the same way?”
Elliptic is electronic music project created from the need to explore various forms of sounds and translate those in complex musical arrangements mainly in the sub genre of electronic dance music, psytrance. All recorded creations are modulated and transmitted through the psychic prism of Mirko Corak.
