Bypass Unit / Colorbox are projects by Danish brothers René and Kenneth Abildgaard, key figures of the classic Goa trance era.
Emerging in early 1996, Bypass Unit quickly made a mark with their debut album On a Trance-Mission released on Hypnotic Records, followed by Green Dreams and the Tunnel Flotation EP, which further solidified their psychedelic, melodic sound. Throughout the late ’90s they released a series of now-cult records on labels such as Hypnotic, Tripomatic, Horizon, and Music Research, including Higher Spirituality and Dropz Of Obscure Eclipses.
Alongside Bypass Unit, the brothers also explored a slightly different music direction under their Colorbox alias, most notably with Train To Chroma City release for Hypnotic records.
Although their joint creative journey paused toward the end of the 1990s, René and Kenneth reunited in 2006 and have since been delighting oldschool Goa Trance fans worldwide with powerful live performances that carry the unmistakable spirit of the genre’s golden age.
One of those moments was their unforgettable performance in Serbia in January 2020, at a party organized by Dharmar, which remains deeply etched in the memory of the local Goa trance community.

Bypass Unit and Colorbox present their first vinyl in over 25 years. The record features 4 tracks that have never before been pressed on wax, even though most of you probably know them by heart.
Nanosphere Courier became an acid-trance classic, while Zibling Zwirl reveals the darker, more night-oriented side of Goa Trance that René was creating back in the day. Both tracks originally appeared on the rare release Dropz Of Obscure Eclipses.
On the B-side, you’ll find Conky Knoll3n, a previously unreleased Goa Trance track that first saw the light on the Classic Goa Trax compilation by Suntrip, alongside Maroon, arguably the best Colorbox track from the Train to Chroma City release.
